Jan 3, 2005 Update
Wow, what a holiday period. Having Christmas
and New Year's fall on a weekend made for 2 - 4 day long
weekends....tomorrow, Tuesday, we go back to work to ship out all our
eBay orders as fast as we can..it will take us a few days to get back
into the swing of things!!!
Dec 24, 2004 Update
Thank-you to those great eBay members who made
our first full year such a great and happy success. We made some
mistakes, and we disappointed a few of you. But so many of you helped us
to succeed.
We have such great plans to improve, and really get good at this. What a
great retirement project!
We wish everyone a warm and happy Holiday, and a special family time.
Nov 6, 2004 Update
The second shipment came
in and we have really caught up. If you did not get a shipping notice
and your order is more that 6 days old, please email us. Things are
almost back to normal.
Thank-you to
ALL the GREAT
eBayers who have tolerated our slowness, stuck with us, and have even
applauded our keeping them informed. The positive feedback we are
getting is heart warming.
Nov 3, 2004 Update
Today was a great
shipping day....our large Fedex catch-up bulk order came in and we were
able to complete a huge catch up. There are more orders going out
tomorrow, and there is another shipment expected tomorrow or Friday. We
are sending out shipping confirmations. If you want a tracking number,
email us AFTER you have your shipping confirmation and we will gladly
send it to you.
Orders that are late because of the customs hold-up have a letter
enclosed describing the compensation package.
Thanks again to all
you great eBayers. When this is finally over we should write a book on
how to survive an eBay crisis .. Just kidding - but we will need some
time to recuperate.
Oct 31, 2004 Update
Happy Halloween.
Our large duplicate bulk order is in customs. In fact we
actually have two orders there.
We hope to have ALL our backlogged orders caught up shipped out by the
end of this coming week.
We can not believe "how great" our Ebay customers have been in
understanding our situation. Thank-you.
We have a compensation package
worked out that we are sending to everyone who has waited for their
camera and/or motherboard order. There will be a letter in every
shipment that grants a reimbursement
as well as a gift certificate.
Please check this "About Me" page
for significant updates. We will keep this page current with news.
Our Recent
Feedback Problems…..
Here
We Describe What Caused the Problems
In less than one year we have had more than 1000 positive feedbacks
and 4 negative feedbacks.
In the month of October, as of this date, we have had 8 negative
feedbacks. We are likely to have more.
Here is an article that appeared in Canadian Press on
Oct 19, 2004 that explains what happened to our ability to
ship our orders in a timely fashion.
Security backlog at
Canada Customs delaying delivery of international mail
Canadian Press
Tuesday, October 19, 2004
OTTAWA (CP) - If you're waiting for some mail from abroad, it
could take a lot longer to arrive at your door.
Canada Post said Monday there's a serious delay in the delivery
of incoming international mail. And it blames a backlog at the Canadian
Border Services Agency in
Vancouver.
Canada Post spokesman Cal Hart said parcels coming into
Canada are taking up to five weeks to clear customs. The post
office understands the need for security precautions but it calls the
lengthy delay unacceptable for its business and for Canadians.
Canada Post said mail has been subjected to backlogs at the
customs centre in
Vancouver since August 2002. And as of Monday, more than 150,000
packages were waiting for customs clearance at the
Vancouver mail processing plant.
The post office said it is getting assurances from the
border services agency that the problem will be cleared up in one month.
The logjam does not affect domestic mail delivery.

actual URL for the article we have reprinted above…

The actual
reason for this massive slowdown is not just increased security measures.
The Customs
people, as well as the Canadian Postal people, have been working to rule
in anticipation of contract talks about to commence. The Canadian
Government Employees of almost all departments have recently been staging
rotating strikes.
All of this
slammed us in early October.
All our stock got tied up in customs.. it is paid for....and it has
been there since Oct 12th....our incoming shipments just dried up on us
without warning….
Here We
Describe our Solution.
We are taking immediate radical steps to correct this by importing a large
duplicate “air order” thru a different broker and bypassing the mail
system entirely. It is coming in by Fedex, and we expect it to be in our
place, tested, and ready for shipping in 5-6 days.
Meanwhile, our orders shipped through the postal service that are in
customs right now could show up anytime - even tomorrow.
Here we
describe the lesson we have learned
-
We are going to rely on Fedex, not the Mail
Service for our incoming shipments.
-
We are going to become a ship-from-stock
Company as soon as possible
-
We are going to put more information of our
eBay listings about our delivery.
-
We will ship all our
outgoing Camera and Motherboard orders by Expedited Mail Service.
