I'm in tears, sniff. I just finished reading your Jan 15 entry. There is nothing more amazing in
this world as bringing a new little being into it. You write so well - humorous and touching.
Congratulations!!!! I hope nursing is going well. That too is a special experience if you can get
past the first couple of months which can be touch (or don't touch!) and go. There are usually
quite a few nursing support groups, like La Leche league. Take advantage of them, they can really
save you.
Reading your story makes me relive mine. Here it is, if you have the time: My girls came 6 weeks
early. We had just come home from a musical at Place des Arts - I almost didn't make it up the
stairs and I was thinking "I should have stayed home". Anyway, we got home and I went straight to
bed. Well, not long after I had just drifted off, I felt a warm liquid between my legs. I ran
(more like waddled) to the bathroom and sat on the toilet, and it kept going, I was trying to
convince myself that I was peeing, but it wasn't working. I called for Hal and told him that my
water broke. I just kept repeating "it's not time. It's too early". Hal was so calm. He just kept
saying "it's ok, just sit tight, I'll pack your bag. We'll go to the hospital. Everything will be
fine" . I found out later that he wasn't so calm when I opened my bag looking for a toothbrush
and there were 7 pairs of underwear and a t-shirt. Anyway to make a long story a little shorter,
it took 8 hours of acti ve

Greetings,
Gayle gave birth to a healthy 5 pound 15 ounce boy this morning around 5 pm Regina time.
Gayle and the baby are fine….no complications…..
Vic took Gayle to the hospital around midnight. She has started her labor earlier in the day yesterday, but the hospital told her to wait until her contractions were less than 5 minutes.
Marilyn flew into Toronto this morning to be with Gayle.
Vic was superb. In fact, not only did he cut the umbilical cord, but he actually delivered the baby, Of course the Doctor was right beside him.
I understand pictures are on their way to me, and I will have them up on the website as soon as possible.

I looked! Congratulations on the healthy baby boy! You look terrific and I hope you are also
feeling good physically. I see you can't wait to get into those "baggy" clothes. I think it is
great that maternity clothes have evolved since I was in them hiding in a tent! Didn't get
much of a visit during the wedding activities though I glad you were able to be with
us for both. It was a hectic summer and now I am looking for some down time to relax and
get the debts under control!

I heard that Richard is also engaged so that's exciting news too. Lots of happenings in the

Here's some pics for you again, in JPEG format. Coulda swore they were JPEG the first time, but if not - hey - it's not unprecedented for this old gal to have the occasional brain fart.

So glad to read that the amnio went well (I opted out of getting one - long story - not that interesting) and sorry to hear that the wee one decided to be shy about exposing the juicy bits to Mom and Dad. I read in one of those parent sites that a girls bits are identifiable because they look like three parallel white lines on an ultrasound, and a boys bits are identifiable because, well because the just are!! Although I also heard first-hand stories of Mommies that decorated a nursery and bought a layette on the basis of an ultrasound and got a shock on delivery day. I guess even the most skilled technicians can be wrong. I heard those stories from women in a chat group I was in where we were all due the same month (it was at www.parentsplace.com and it was the Oct. 01 expecting club - they make a new club for each month). I also got a due date buddy in Detroit through that club - we both had Oct. 09 as a due date and she actually delivered on "our" due date, and I had to

Well, I can't write too long, although I still intend to answer your last mail. It was so great to get a long mail from you and hear how everything is going. You're almost halfway there!! I can totally identify with so many of your stories (unwelcome touching, unsolicited advice, and totally inappropriate amnio questions!!!! ) Oh, I need a bit longer to tell you some of my horrible but also sort of funny experiences on that score. Forty year old Mamas are just considered open season for stupid pricks with their minds back in the 1950s!!

It is probably going to be a long night because 5 kids at Kyle's daycare have been sent home with... (drumroll) ... CHICKENPOX (!!!) in the last two days, and when Marco picked him up today he had a mild fever and some suspicious red dots on his tummy. Oy vay. So looks like my little pumpkin is going to get to add his first "Childhood Disease" to his collector's card already. At least Chickenpox is one of the less nasty ones. And I stopped by the drugstore and picked up baby Tylenol and stop-the-itching-lotion so I'm all prepared for the onslaught. Argh.
